OMB proposes updates to federal grant award process

The Office of Management and Budget published a proposal today to revise the Guidance for Federal Financial Assistance to improve government-wide policies and requirements for the management of grants, cooperative agreements, and other forms of assistance.

The proposal includes the NCUA and other federal grant-making agencies, and is designed to:

  • Ensure tax dollars are not wasted or misused and that activities performed under federal awards are consistent with law and policy;
  • Hold recipients accountable when they fail to meet relevant standards;
  • Provide further clarification on the regulatory status of the OMB requirements and on the process for future updates to the government-wide requirements; and
  • Reduce recipient burden.

Comments on the proposal are due July 15.
