This week: August recess underway, comment deadlines approach
The House has already left its August recess, and the Senate followed over the weekend after a series of votes late Saturday.
Credit unions are encouraged to connect with lawmakers during the recess, either at local offices, or by inviting them to credit union offices or branches. Information and/or pictures on recess visits with policymakers can be sent to communications@americascreditunions.org.
America’s Credit Unions’ Resource Library contains the latest information on advocacy priorities, including the handout on the credit union difference updated with the latest call report data.
Throughout August, comments are due on several regulatory proposals including:
- August 11: NCUA’s request regarding agency collection of information on its travel management;
- August 15: NCUA’s 2026-2030 strategic plan;
- August 18: NCUA’s request for a three-year extension for the Form 5300 Call Report with revised instructions; and
- August 25: Department of Housing and Urban Development request for information on buy-now, pay-later unsecured debt.
Space is running out for the 2025 Congressional Caucus in Washington, D.C. Set to bring credit union advocates to the nation’s capital as Congress is returning for recess, it will take place Sept. 7 to 9 at the Hyatt Regency Washington.
