House tees up NDAA consideration in September

The House Rules Committee posted a print of the House Armed Services Committee-approved version of the FY ’26 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), indicating that the full House is set to consider the package when it returns in September. America’s Credit Unions advocacy team was engaged as the House Armed Services Committee advanced their version of the FY26 NDAA linked with a procurement reform package in July, and ensured it does not include any problematic amendments for credit unions at the Committee level.

America’s Credit Unions is leading industry efforts to keep any harmful provisions, including any interchange language, out of the bill funding U.S. servicemembers’ needs.

The House Rules Committee set an August 28 deadline for members to file amendments they want considered as part of the NDAA. America’s Credit Unions advocacy team is tracking filed amendments for any that may impact the credit union industry.

Senators may also file NDAA amendments throughout August. Sens. Roger Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Roger Marshall, R-Kansas, have floated filing their Big Box Bailout language on credit card interchange and already filed one interchange study amendment to the bill. America’s Credit Unions wrote to Congressional leaders earlier this week, urging them to reject any interchange amendments.
