This week: Shutdown continues, financial services hearings postponed
The federal government remains shut down as of Monday morning, with the Senate expected to hold another vote today after failing to pass a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government on Friday afternoon. The CR would fund the government through Nov. 21 and has already passed the House. The House does not have any votes scheduled for this week at this time.
To help meet affected members’ needs, credit unions across the country are taking action. That includes Members 1st Credit Union, featured in America’s Credit Unions blog.
Credit unions providing government shutdown-related outreach and services are encouraged to share their efforts in an online survey. The survey and other resources are available on America’s Credit Unions’ Government Shutdown Assistance webpage.
The House Financial Committee has postponed two hearings originally scheduled for this week: one on artificial intelligence in financial services, another on the future of deposit insurance.
Comments are due Wednesday on the NCUA’s voluntary regulatory review conducted under the Economic Growth and Regulatory Paperwork Reduction Act.
