This Week: Funding negotiations continue

Government funding negotiations continued over the weekend, but the shutdown officially entered its seventh week. The Senate unveiled a package late Sunday that would fund the federal government through Jan. 30, and the Department of Agriculture, Food and Drug Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, military construction projects, and Congressional operations for all of FY26. This package could be considered by the full Senate this week.

Congress was originally scheduled to be out for the Veterans Day holiday, so no committee meetings are scheduled.

Credit unions are encouraged to share their efforts in serving members affected by the shutdown. America’s Credit Unions survey and other resources are available on its Government Shutdown Assistance webpage.

The NCUA has withdrawn its meeting scheduled for Nov. 20, so there won’t be an agenda coming this week. Applications remain open through Dec. 16 for Community Development Revolving Loan Fund grants through the agency.

America’s Credit Unions will remain engaged on funding negotiations and other Washington, D.C., developments throughout the week.
