Credit unions express support for House bill with full CDFI, CDRLF funding
The Financial Services and General Government and National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2026 (H. 7006) addresses key credit union priorities and should move forward. America’s Credit Unions urged House leaders to advance the bill in a letter sent Wednesday as the House began floor consideration.
The bill funds the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund at $324 million in FY26, the same amount as FY25. The fund awards grants to assist affordable housing, homeownership, small business growth, and more through certified CDFIs.
H.R. 7006 also funds the NCUA’s Community Development Revolving Loan Fund (CDRLF) at FY26 level of $3.4 million. The CDRLF assists credit unions serving low-income communities with grants to stimulate economic activities and operate more efficiently.
The Senate’s Financial Services and General Government bill also provides $324 million for the CDFI Fund.
America’s Credit Unions has consistently called for lawmakers to fully fund these programs to ensure credit unions have access to them to effectively strengthen their communities.
