Discussing capital reform opportunities for small credit unions

With capital reform for community financial institutions a priority for many policymakers and new leadership soon at the NCUA, the Small Credit Union Advocacy Advisory Panel Thursday explored how those could lead to opportunities for credit unions.

Discussion emphasized reforms that would aid small credit unions with unique capital needs from both Congress and the NCUA.

America’s Credit Unions’ leaders also shared the latest on CFPB director nominee Brian Johnson, NCUA board nominee John Crews, and what the pending U.S. Supreme Court case Trump v. Slaughter may mean for the future of the NCUA board.

They also shared the latest on NCUA's final rule on vital records preservation, anticipated NCUA rulemaking actions this summer, and heard from group members about topics and issues the group should tackle at future meetings.
