‘Unified voice’ will position credit unions for future success
America’s Credit Unions continued its proactive engagement with members during a series of town halls that wrapped up last week attended by more than 700 member credit unions.
“The driving force behind America’s Credit Unions is that we are a unified voice working to position our industry for the future,” said America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Jim Nussle. “It is together with our strong League partners, particularly in advocacy that we can continue to ensure credit unions remain essential, adaptable, and thriving in an ever-changing financial landscape.”
Nussle pledged the organization will support members with:
- Relentless advocacy on issues, opportunities and challenges that will improve the environment for credit unions;
- World-class compliance assistance;
- Industry insights and customized data; and
- Unlimited access to professional development and peer-to-peer networking opportunities.
America’s Credit Unions Transition Board Chair Brian Schools shared organizational updates and achievements over its first year and noted the cooperative spirit of credit unions will continue to set them apart.
Chief Advocacy Officer Carrie Hunt discussed successes this year, advocacy resources available for members, and a look at opportunities in the next Congress); while Chief Membership and Engagement Officer Anthony Demangone detailed how membership with America’s Credit Unions complements our advocacy efforts by providing opportunities to elevate credit unions.
Hunt also encouraged members to stay engaged, including signing up for the daily newsletter, Your Capitol Connection, Regulatory Comments, Compliance Blog, Economic Update, and more.
Credit unions also engaged with each town hall, submitting dozens of questions covering everything from League relationships to cooperation among credit unions of all asset sizes to how the tax reform plan of attack for next year.
