This week: Shutdown continues; America’s Credit Unions to testify on NCUA budget
The government shutdown has now extended to November and credit union efforts to engage lawmakers and regulators are ongoing. The NCUA’s public budget hearing is Thursday at 1 p.m. Eastern, and America’s Credit Unions is on the schedule to testify.
America’s Credit Unions also submitted comments on the draft budget. The letter offers support for the agency’s commitment to transparency while also requesting clarity regarding the scope and purpose of the reorganization, a detailed cost analysis of the MERIT platform, and continued focus on investments that deliver measurable long-term efficiencies.

- Monday, comments are due to the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) on its 2026-2028 enterprise housing goals;
- Tuesday, comments on a proposal implementing the GENIUS Act are due to the Treasury Department;
- Wednesday, comments on the FHFA’s 2026-2030 strategic plan are due to the agency;
- Friday, comments on the NCUA’s draft budget are due to the agency.
