Government funding bill fails to move forward

No action was taken on government funding proposals Monday and funding is still scheduled to expire after 11:59 p.m. Eastern Tuesday. The House advanced a continuing resolution prior to last week’s recess, and the Senate is expected to take another vote on that measure Tuesday that is expected to fall short of the 60 votes needed to pass (it also failed a Senate vote before recess).

The House does not have any votes currently scheduled this week, but reports are they are prepared to return to DC to vote if needed. There was no agreement reached following a meeting with President Donald Trump and Congressional leaders of both parties Monday afternoon.

America’s Credit Unions has resources available to assist credit unions, and will continue to engage Congress on the need funding. Historically, credit unions have gone above and beyond to serve members affected by a federal government shutdown and are in preparations to do the same if an agreement is not reached.
